New Detroit Lions coordinator Cory Undlin has seen it all: 'Ready to really take off'

It was a few years after Wayne Gretzky joined the Los Angeles Kings, and the hockey craze was just hitting Southern California when Cory Undlin decided to bring a few soft pucks, a stick and a net back to school with him from winter break.

Undlin was an undergrad playing football at Cal Lutheran, about to start his first season with the school’s club hockey team, and he and his buddies turned the common area on the first floor of their dorm at Rasmussen Hall into a makeshift hockey rink.

A heady outside linebacker on the football team, Undlin was a natural at just about every sport he tried.
