Had an interesting conversation with Jim Caldwell on Monday.
As we reporters — a.k.a. the Dungeon of Doom — gathered for the usual news conference — a.k.a. postmortem finger-pointing session of no I didn’t, yes you did, I know you are but what am I? — the Detroit Lions' coach was asked an assortment of fairly reasonable questions about his team’s postseason prospects.
At nearly every turn, Caldwell’s answers bordered on defiant.
What separates a team that has been there, done that from one that has yet to get over the hump?
“Depends on what hump we’re talking about,” Caldwell said.
