LANSING — Carl Nassib, who made history recently as the first active NFL player to come out as gay, has a family connection to Michigan government.
He is the cousin of Michigan Supreme Court Justice Bridget McCormack.
McCormack revealed the family connection in a Friday morning tweet.
"This young man is my cousin, and my heart is full," McCormack tweeted, in posting a New York Times article about Nassib.
"Nice job raising such a kind human, Fischer-Nassibs, and thank you, Carl."
Through a spokesman, McCormack told the Free Press that her father's sister, Helen McCormack Fischer, is mother to Mary Fischer Nassib, her first cousin.
