On Saturday night in the USFL North Division championship game, the Michigan Panthers faced a Maulers squad that changed its colors during the offseason from purple and red to the Pittsburgh-standard black and yellow.
And indeed, a shade of yellow did prove key — Michigan was flagged at least 10 times, extending drive after drive for Pittsburgh, including a a pass interference call on cornerback Josh Butler on third-and-16 with 1:08 remaining.
