A few weeks before last month’s NFL draft, the Detroit Lions sent assistant special teams coach Devin Fitzsimmons to work out a handful of players from one of the Ohio Valley Conference’s most talent-rich defenses.
The Lions did not draft any players from Southeast Missouri, but Fitzsimmons’ trip did yield promising leads on two players who are among the most intriguing names in the team’s rookie free agent class, a group that will be unveiled officially when they arrive in town for rookie minicamp Friday-Sunday.
