Matthew Stafford candidate to top Peyton Manning's passing record

Matthew Stafford can be criticized for a lot of things during his time as the Detroit Lions quarterback. Putting up numbers, though, is not one of them.

Not even close.

It’s why colleague Kevin Seifert named Stafford as one of the quarterbacks who would have a shot to break the career passing yardage mark Peyton Manning set Sunday.

Stafford was the fastest quarterback to 20,000 yards (71 games), three fewer than Dan Marino -- the man who held the passing yards record when he retired until Brett Favre broke it and then Manning passed him.
