A couple of weeks ago, we shared the story by the Morning Call in Pennsylvania, which reported that Matt Millen, the former Detroit Lions general manager, needs a heart transplant.
Millen, whose time running the Lions ushered in the lowest points of the franchise's history, was diagnosed with amyloidosis, an incurable disease that is being treated with chemotherapy.
The 60-year-old former football player-turned-announcer-turned-executive shared some time with Peter King, the Sports Illustrated writer who'll be joining NBC soon, who wrote one of his final SI pieces about Millen.
King reported that Millen should be able to come off chemotherapy — designed to slow the bone marrow's production of amyloids that builds up in the body — to determine his progress.
