Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois didn’t want to talk about moral victories after Sunday’s 30-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
I get that.
He didn’t want to talk about how the defense had played well enough to win the game. He didn’t want to talk about how Sunday’s effort against the NFL’s best team could be a building block, or a stepping stone, for the team’s overall improvement.
When I asked Jean Francois what he thought about the general sentiment around the NFL being one of surprise that the lowly 4-8 Lions had managed stay within three points of the 11-1 Rams midway through the fourth quarter, he didn’t want to hear that either.
