The Lions’ defense came up with a huge goal-line play for the second straight week.
After Matt Prater’s missed field goal gave Washington the ball with good field position, quarterback Kirk Cousins wasted little time moving deep into Lions’ territory.
Cousins threw consecutive 11-yard completions to Chris Thompson and Niles Paul before hitting tight end Vernon Davis for a 22-yard to set up a first-and-goal at the Lions’ 7.
But on the ensuing play, running back Matt Jones was stripped by Brandon Copeland and Tavon Wilson recovered the loose ball in the end zone to end the threat.
