The Patriots are finally moving the chains the second half. They can thank their hurry-up offense.
Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed four straight passes to place New England inside Detroit territory.
But on a third-and-five at the Lions 25, Garoppolo threw an incomplete pass.
The Patriots elected to go for it on a fourth-and-5 with 5:16 left, and a draw play by DJ Foster translated into a 13-yard gain.
But the Lions defense held up and forced the Patriots to settle for a 25-yard field goal by Stephen Gostkowski.
The Lions lead 28-27 with 3:41 left.
