ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Detroit Lions cornerback Rashean Mathis went through concussion testing and was deemed to not have a head injury, meaning he will not have to go through the concussion protocol in order to return to the field.
This is very good news for the Lions, who are thin at cornerback beyond their starters, Mathis and Darius Slay. Mathis suffered the injury in the fourth quarter Sunday against the Vikings.
Lions coach Jim Caldwell also said X-rays on quarterback Matthew Stafford's left, non-throwing, hand were negative, so that’s another good sign for the Lions as they head to London later Monday.
