Allen Park — The Detroit Lions announced defensive end Ziggy Ansah will open training camp on the physically unable to perform list.
It’s the second consecutive year, Ansah will start camp on the PUP list.
The move comes after his practice participation was heavily restricted during the early portion of the offseason program.
A first-round draft pick in 2013, Ansah fell just shy of matching the franchise’s single season sack record in 2015. The past two seasons, he’s been plagued by multiple injuries, limiting his effectiveness.
A late-season surge, which included three sacks in each of the team’s final two games, buoyed his stat line last year, helping him to finish with 12.
