Allen Park — With Joique Bell dealing with an ankle injury and being ineffective on offense, there’s a chance rookie running back Zach Zenner could have a bigger role in the Lions’ offense Monday night.
And if that happens, offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi has total faith in Zenner, the team’s preseason darling.
“If you guys knew him, you would know he’s ready,” Lombardi said Friday. “He’s going to be just fine, whatever’s asked of him.
“If all our running backs wake up on Sunday with the flu, Zach Zenner could do it all.”
Zenner, who went undrafted out of South Dakota State, showed his versatile skills during the exhibition games, leading the league with 183 rushing yards on 35 carries.
