Lions work out two punters in first practice after Jets trouncing

ALLEN PARK -- The Lions took a day off from practice after Monday night's 48-17 home loss to the Jets. That part was usual. Then they came back Wednesday to conduct a walkthrough, which was not.

But they did get some evaluation of free agents collected in the process of moving on to play the 49ers on Sunday. They worked out two punters in Ryan Santoso and Ryan Quigley, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Santoso was here for all of training camp after the Lions signed him as an undrafted rookie out of Minnesota. At 6 feet 5 inches and 258 pounds, he showed an often booming leg and the ability to kick field goals as well, though he flashed the normal rookie inconsistencies in both areas as well.
