ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions have waived former first-round pick Brandon Pettigrew, days after moving him from the physically unable to perform list to the non-football injury list.
Pettigrew, who along with Matthew Stafford had been first-round picks for the Lions in 2009, had not played since tearing his ACL in December 2015. He spent all offseason rehabbing and was initially placed on the PUP list prior to training camp.
He was activated to practice last month and had worked out for a couple of weeks before being moved to the NFI list earlier this week.
