Allen Park — Lions offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle isn’t ready to put a percentage on the chances he’ll be ready to play in Week 1.
“The way things are looking, they’re looking good, so I’ll say there’s a chance,” Waddle said Monday.
The 6-foot-6, 328-pound Waddle is the Lions’ best option at right tackle for 2015, but he remains on the physically unable to perform list as he recovers from January knee surgery.
Both coach Jim Caldwell and offensive line coach Jeremiah Washburn have expressed confidence in Cornelius Lucas, who would start if Waddle can’t return for the season opener, but based on his first two years, Waddle can be the kind of stable pass blocker and downfield run blocker the Lions desire on the right side of the line.
