Lions to hold seven practices open to the public at training camp

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions will have seven practices open to the public during this year's training camp at the team's practice facility in Allen Park, Michigan, beginning on July 31.

The free practices are held at the team's outdoor training facility, weather-permitting, other than one mock game at Ford Field on August 5. For the second straight year, the Lions will not have any open practices at facilities they do not play or practice in. In years past, the Lions had practiced at local high schools.

Detroit's open practices this year are also cut down due to joint practices in Indianapolis leading up to the preseason opener against the Colts, the second straight year the Lions have had joint practices away from the team's facility.
