Lions sputter after strong start, fall to Vikings

Detroit — For the second time this season, the Lions played the Vikings and seemingly thought blocking for Matthew Stafford wasn’t a top priority.

The Lions allowed seven sacks Sunday, and despite jumping out to a 17-6 lead in the second quarter, a listless second-half performance led to a 28-19 loss at Ford Field.

Although the numbers and names might be a little different, the story of this game was similar to the others during the Lions’ 1-6 start this season. The impressive offensive display happened in nothing more than glimpses. The defense made some nice plays, too, but allowed far too many big plays.
