Lions sign veteran TE Clay Harbor, waive Charles

The Detroit Lions have made a change at tight end ahead of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles (1 p.m., Fox), signing Clay Harbor and waiving Orson Charles.

Harbor played in three games with the New England Patriots this year before he was released Monday. He did not catch a pass with the Patriots but had three straight 20-plus catch seasons with the Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012-14.

Charles was inactive for two of the Lions' first four games as the team's No. 4 tight end.

The Lions have used Eric Ebron as their primary tight end this year, but Ebron has been a fixture on the injury report with ankle and back injuries.
