The Detroit Lions signed former New England Patriots running back Nick Brossette to their practice squad on Thursday, per the team’s official Twitter account.
Brossette was added to the Patriots preseason roster as a free agent after failing to be selected in the 2019 NFL draft. He featured prominently for the team in preseason, but did not do enough to beat the long odds to make the roster. Brossette featured against the Lions in Week 1 of preseason, rushing for 66 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.
The running back played for four years at LSU, but did not take on a featured role in their offense until his senior season.
