The Detroit Lions added insurance for their banged-up backfield today, signing running back Marion Grice to the practice squad.
Grice played in 10 games and had 15 carries for 41 yards for the Arizona Cardinals last year but was waived-injured by the team this preseason, with hamstring and shoulder injuries.
A sixth-round pick out of Arizona State by the San Diego Chargers in 2014, Grice takes the spot of George Winn, who signed to the active roster to replace the injured Zach Zenner.
Zenner broke multiple ribs and suffered a partially collapsed lung in the first half of Sunday's 37-34 overtime win over the Chicago Bears.
