The Detroit Lions have made their first free agency signing in over three weeks. The team announced on Monday they have signed punter Kyle Christy. Terms of the deal have yet to be announced.
Christy punted for the Florida Gators from 2011 to 2014. In 2012, he led the SEC conference in yards per punt (45.8) and was named to the All-SEC first team that year. Unfortunately, Christy failed to build upon his sophomore season and was not selected in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Christy is not expected to compete for the starting punter position, as Sam Martin has that position on lock.
