Bob Quinn made one of his first player moves with the Detroit Lions on Thursday, signing linebacker Jerry Franklin to a free-agent contract.
The 6-foot-1 Franklin has bounced around the NFL since going undrafted in 2012, spending time with Denver, Carolina, Dallas, Chicago, Kansas City and New Orleans.
He only appeared in games with the Bears, Chiefs and Saints. He’s played in 20 career games, making one defensive tackle. Primarily a special teams player, he made 11 team tackles in three seasons.
The 28-year-old is from Sunset, Arkansas and in 2014, Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid praised Franklin’s special teams abilities according to the Kansas City Star.
