ALLEN PARK -- Bob Quinn was running New England's pro personnel department when the Patriots traded for Keshawn Martin. Now he's bringing the receiver back home to Detroit.
The Lions announced Saturday they have reached a free-agent deal with the Inkster native and former Michigan State star.
Martin was a do-everything weapon while in East Lansing, finishing his career in the top 10 in school history in punt return yards (second), kick return yards (eighth) and all-purpose yards (10th). He also scored touchdowns five different ways -- rushing, receiving, passing, punt return and kick return.
He was selected by Houston in the fourth round of the 2012 draft, but never really lived up to the potential, snagging just 38 passes in his first three seasons.
