Lions sign ex-Jets center Wesley Johnson

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Wesley Johnson didn't have a good season last year. But he did start 15 games at center, and the Lions don't have much depth on the interior right now with Travis Swanson in the wind.

So the Lions bolstered their numbers by signing Johnson in free agency. Terms were not disclosed.

Johnson, a former fifth-round pick of the Steelers, started 15 games for the Jets last season. But he was one of just four players who were actually worse than Swanson, according to ProFootballFocus.

He ranked 35th out of 36 qualifying players, according to the advanced analytics site.
