Wootton (6-6, 270) has played in 60 career games with 22 starts and made 16 tackles in 15 games with the Minnesota Vikings last year. He spent the previous four seasons with the Chicago Bears and can play both defensive tackle and defensive end.

His signing puts the Lions roster at the maximum of 90 for now.

The Lions lost Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley and key reserve defensive end George Johnson from their defensive line this offseason.
