The former seventh-round pick out of Utah by the Carolina Panthers in 2010 has played in 46 career games with one start.

He spent the last three seasons in Miami where he racked up 38 tackles and one interception in 34 games.

Stanford joins a crowded Lions cornerback room that also includes Darius Slay, Rashean Mathis, Alex Carter, Quandre Diggs, Josh Wilson, Nevin Lawson, Chris Owens, Mohammed Siesay and Crezdon Butler.
