Lions show interest in recently released Sherman

The Detroit Lions that have expressed early interest in former All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman, the player told ESPN.

Sherman, a four-time Pro Bowler, was released by the Seattle Seahawks on Friday after spending his entire seven-year career with the franchise. He is currently recovering from a ruptured Achilles, which landed him on injured reserve for the final seven games of last season.

A fourth-round pick in 2011, Sherman quickly developed into one of the NFL’s best corners. Since coming into the league, his 32 interceptions and 99 pass defenses are unmatched, and no player has allowed a lower completion percentage when targeted.
