Allen Park — The Detroit Lions have parted ways with senior executive Brian Xanders, according to a team source. The news was first reported by Inside the League.
The former Denver Broncos general manager was brought in by Martin Mayhew in 2013 to serve as a trusted adviser and to modernize the franchise’s database technology, improving the speed the team could access player data during the NFL draft.
While Bob Quinn cleaned out much of the franchise’s front office when hired as Mayhew’s replacement in January 2016, Xanders was retained. In an interview with the Detroit News last August, Quinn said Xanders played a valuable role during the transition.
