Lions release QB Jake Fromm ahead of 2025 NFL Draft

The Detroit Lions announced that they have released quarterback Jake Fromm one day ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. With this move, the Lions roster now sits at 73 players heading into the big event.

Originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Bills, Fromm bounced between the Bills, Giants and Commanders over his first four years in the NFL before landing in Detroit last training camp. Despite being a mid-camp addition, Fromm found his way but was never elevated to the active roster.

Fromm signed a Futures contract with the Lions in January, but after the addition of Kyle Allen in free agency, the Lions apparently felt comfortable with Allen and Hendon Hooker backing up starter Jared Goff.
