The Lions are still tinkering with the bottom of their roster, and on Tuesday, that meant cutting an offensive lineman as well as another player on injured reserve.
Detroit released offensive lineman Jamil Demby from the 53-man roster and also cut safety Marcus Cromartie from injured reserve.
Demby was Detroit's first waiver claim after the 48-17 season-opening loss to the Jets. The Lions brought him in for depth along the offensive line, but he wasn't needed in Sunday's loss to the 49ers despite the fact that starting right guard TJ Lang was inactive with a back injury.
