For the second straight year, the Detroit Lions did not draft a wide receiver. And while that decision can be viewed as a vote of confidence for TJ Jones, the third-year pass catcher said he’s taking nothing for granted.
“That was their decision,” Jones said after the Lions finished the first week of organized team activities Thursday. “I think we made a lot of great off-season moves, so they have felt, with the moves they made in the off-season, that it wasn’t a necessary need to draft a receiver. But it’s kind of a double-edge sword. You bring in a guy who’s hungry to get his first taste in the NFL or you bring in a five-, seven-, nine-year vet who’s had some six-plus years over experience than I have.
