Earlier in the week, D’Andre Swift was named one of three nominees for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week for his performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now Swift has another chance to pick up some corporate-sponsored hardware.
Swift is one of five players nominated for the Week 6 Pepsi Rookie of the Week. On Sunday, Swift rushed for 116 yards and two touchdown, becoming the first Lions rookie running back to eclipse 100 rushing yards with two touchdowns since the one and only Barry Sanders back in 1989.
Since the Pepsi Rookie of the Week award has been around (2002), only five Lions players have won the award: Boss Bailey (2003), Roy Williams (2004), Matthew Stafford (2009), Jahvid Best (2010) and Ndamukong Suh (2010).
