The Lions have signed some insurance at the center position.
Starter Travis Swanson sat out practice Wednesday with an undisclosed injury, and it was announced after the open portion of practice to the media that the team had promoted center Braxston Cave from the practice squad to the active roster.
Swanson’s status for Sunday’s game in Chicago is unclear, but if he can’t go, Manny Ramirez would likely get his second start at center this season for the Lions. Cave would play the backup center/guard swing role.
Ramirez started for Swanson Week 13 vs. Green Bay when Swanson was dealing with an ankle injury.
