Lions part ways with Joique Bell

Joique Bell’s improbable but rewarding career with the Detroit Lions has come to an end.

Bell's first connection with the Lions was working as a security guard in training camp while attending Wayne State University in midtown Detroit. The team parted ways with the running back on Tuesday.

As a fifth-year player, Bell is a vested veteran and not subject to waivers at this point of the NFL calendar. He is free to negotiate with any team.

There had been speculation since the end of the 2015 season that Bell might be expendable for a variety of reasons, including production and finances.
