Longtime Detroit Lions special teamer Don Carey announced his retirement earlier this week in a press conference.
Fox 17 in West Michigan attended the press conference in which Carey said he’s looking forward to reaching out to local communities in his post-football life.
“For the past several years, my wife and I have had an organization called the REECH Foundation,” Carey said. “REECH being an acronym for Reaching, Education and Empowering Children, and we’re looking for ways to expand our reach in the Grand Rapids area.”
Carey, a Grand Rapids native, spent over seven of his 10 NFL season with the Lions, racking up 157 career tackles along with several special teams awards from his Lions teammates.
