For so long, the Detroit Lions franchise was an organization that wanted to be great. The will was there. As longtime owners of the team dating back to 1963, the Ford family knew the city of Detroit was dying to be a winner. Sure, Detroit is affectionately known as Hockeytown, but man, if the Lions ever figured it out—how quickly this town would become a football-obsessed area.
Thanks to an overhauling of the organization that took place in 2021, Lions principal owner Sheila Hamp has been at the forefront of turning this thing around. She is a competitor by nature, and what really drives her is bringing a championship and consistent winner to this city.
