Seemingly every year, one Detroit Lions receiver captures the hearts of the fanbase during the dog days of August. For a while, it was now-veteran receiver Tom Kennedy’s reign. Someone would pop off in the preseason, and while it was fun to watch, most understood that the production wasn’t likely to translate to the regular season.
However, this year’s competition was a bit different. Everything was wide open behind roster-locks Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Kalif Raymond. Coaches were nearly begging for someone to step up and take control of the race, and in an unlikely turn of events, undrafted free agent Isaiah Williams ended up seizing his opportunity.
