Lions new regime must avoid second-round draft busts

In recent years, the Detroit Lions have struggled to find solid contributors in the second round of the NFL draft. It’s one of the main reasons the Lions have found themselves in the basement of the NFC North division for the past several seasons.

Finding reliable starters in the first and second rounds is key to building a team through the draft. According to the Lions’ new special assistant to owner Shelia Ford Hamp and team president Rod Wood, former longtime linebacker Chris Spielman, you can’t buy a locker room in free agency.
