Lions name Rod Wood their new team president

The Detroit Lions have named Rod Wood their team president and have established an advisory board for the search for their next general manager.

Wood, 55, will oversee the business side of the organization and report directly to owner Martha Firestone Ford. He spent the past eight years as president and CEO of Ford Estates and has worked closely with the Lions organization and the Ford family.

“I am humbled and honored to accept this position," Wood said in a statement. "Mrs. Ford has made it clear that her goal, and the goal of the Ford Family, is to make the Detroit Lions a championship football team and organization.
