ALLEN PARK -- Matthew Stafford is going to become a very rich man when he signs his new deal. Perhaps the richest in NFL history.
The only real questions are when that will happen, and for how much.
Andrew Luck currently holds the mantle at $24.5 million per year. Stafford could top that -- but the problem is, so could Kirk Cousins or especially Derek Carr. Now it's a matter of who is willing to set the market for the others, risking leaving some money on the table.
ESPN reported Stafford was expected to wait out Carr's new deal, but he shot down those reports after practice Wednesday at Lions minicamp.
