Matthew Stafford missed the final eight games of the Detroit Lions' 2019 season with fractures in his back suffered in the fourth quarter of a Nov. 3 loss to the Oakland Raiders.
The team was 3-4-1 with him, then went 0-8 without him to finish with their worst record since going 2-14 in 2009, Stafford's first season.
But Stafford was having a nice season in his first year under coordinator Darrell Bevell, which makes the veteran quarterback a potential NFL Comeback Player of the Year favorite in 2020.
Stafford is fourth on William Hill’s 2020-21 Comeback Player of the Year odds at 7/1.
