DETROIT -- The Lions officially filed their bid to host the NFL draft on Tuesday, just a few hours before hosting Roger Goodell on a tour of the renovated Ford Field.
Team president Rod Wood used the opportunity to make the commissioner an offer he hopes he can't refuse.
"I promised him that if the draft came here," Wood deadpanned, "no one would boo him."
Wood made the joke during a Q&A session with fans that Goodell participated in after his tour. It was funny because Goodell is booed every year at the draft -- and because Goodell was sitting right next to Wood when he said it.
