The Detroit Lions will be able to invite more players than ever to their local-day predraft workout next week, thanks to a revised definition of the Detroit metropolitan area.
For the first time in recent memory, the Lions will be able to host prospects who played at Michigan and Eastern Michigan even if those players did not grow up in the Detroit area.
The change was made after the Lions called the NFL to define their local area. A consultation with the 2016 Rand McNally Atlas determined that Ann Arbor was considered a contiguous area of Detroit.
