Jim Caldwell is coming back.
The Detroit Lions announced today that Caldwell will return for a third season as head coach.
Caldwell, who has two years left on his contract, had been in a state of limbo since the Detroit Lions ended their season with a 24-20 win over the Chicago Bears.
The Lions were one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this year, starting 1-7 and then losing to the Green Bay Packers on a Hail Mary in early December. But they closed the season with six wins in their final eight games, and many inside the organization felt that Caldwell had done enough to keep his job.
