Lions hire Mark Olson as regional scout

Lions general manager Bob Quinn added another scout to his staff Friday.

The team announced the hiring of Mark Olson as a regional scout. He spent the past 18 years with the Atlanta Falcons.

Olson was Atlanta’s national scout the past three years and previously worked as the team’s regional scout in the west and was a pro scout. He joined the

Falcons as a scouting assistant in 1998 after stints with Washington and Minnesota as well as Montreal in the Canadian Football League.

Although Olson didn’t work with Quinn in New England, there are still connections to the Patriots.
