It's game week at last, and the Detroit Lions are prepping for Sunday's home opener against the Arizona Cardinals. Starting with that game, I'll be grading the Lions position groups after each performance, laying out what they did well and where they came up short.
In advance of that, it's time to set some grades on where the roster is as a whole. Detroit pared down to 53 players this weekend, which included adding two waiver claims. They're as healthy as they've been since the start of training camp. It's a natural time for assessment. So here we go:
Starter: Matthew Stafford
Backup: Jake Rudock
The Lions entered the offseason with needs at potentially every position on the roster except for one.
