ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- New Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn said he is not going to immediately push Calvin Johnson into making a decision about retiring or coming back for another season.
The star receiver released a statement last week saying he would be evaluating all of his options. Those options, essentially, are either to retire after nine seasons or to return to the Lions.
Quinn said "when the time and place is ready," he plans on reaching out to Johnson.
"I've found over my experience in the National Football League that the time, the couple weeks after the regular season is over is not a time to push a player into staying or going," Quinn said.
