When the Detroit Lions hit the field Friday afternoon for their first full-squad practice of training camp, they’ll do so with a trio of starting cornerbacks 25 or younger.
Darius Slay, a second-round pick in 2013, is the starting left cornerback and turned 25 on Jan. 1.
Nevin Lawson, a fourth-round pick in 2014, is the starting right cornerback and turned 25 April 23.
Quandre Diggs, a sixth-round pick in 2015, is the starting nickel cornerback and turned 23 on Jan. 22.
The Lions’ secondary started trending toward youth after Lawson took over for Rashean Mathis (concussion) midseason last year, and Diggs filled in for the veteran Josh Wilson (knee) in the slot starting mid-November.
