Lions DT Khyri Thornton Suspended Six Games For Substance Abuse Violation

The NFL announced that Lions DT Khyri Thornton has been suspended for the first six games of the 2017 season for violating the NFL policy and program for substance abuse, per Tim Twentyman.

Thornton will be eligible to return to the Lions’ roster on Monday, Oct. 16 following the team’s game against the Saints.

Thornton, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Packers back in 2014. However, despite his draft status, Thornton lasted just a little over a year in Green Bay before he was waived at the start of the 2015 season.
